After ESA

ESA promoted its first class of 8th graders in 2017.  Our ESA graduates have gone on to many different high schools and now are embarking to college and the workforce.  Below are just a few of our alumni along with some details about their post-ESA paths.

Post High School: Northeastern University

Accomplishments/Awards: Awarded a full scholarship in addition to $10,000 from 156 Massey Apartments Scholarship.

Post High School: UNC - Chapel Hill

Accomplishments/Awards: International Baccalaureate Diploma; International Baccalaureate  Academic Achievement award for graduating class; Biological and Life Sciences Award from Millbrook HS; Founder/President of Triangle Smiles; President/Founder Science National Honors Society at Millbrook HS.

Current Activities: Research Intern in the Global Institute for Infectious Disease at UNC School of Medicine research PrEP for formerly incarcerated individuals (FIT for PrEP)

Favorite Memory from ESA:  Science Olympiad for sure. I took part in eighth grade, and even won a medal! It helped me realize that a career in science might be for me!

Favorite Memory from ESA: Was our field trip to see the solar eclipse.  It was such a great, once in a lifetime experience that I still cherish to this day.

How did ESA prepare you for high school or post high school: ESA really prepared me to learn independently.  I had to learn to organize myself and really take charge of my learning. Skills which were vital to my success in high school and now college.
