Article 8 Chapter §115C of the General Statutes includes Part 1A, the North Carolina Read to Achieve Program. The goal of this program “is to ensure that every student read at or above grade level by the end of third grade and continue to progress in reading proficiency so that he or she can read, comprehend, integrate, and apply complex texts needed for secondary education and career success.”

In accordance with the Read to Achieve legislation, Reading Camp is offered for students in grades 1-3 in order to provide additional reading and support over the summer. Priority spots are given to students in the third grade who have not yet met reading proficiency according to state policy. Per guidelines from the state of North Carolina, admission to this camp is by invitation only. A parent information sheet may be found HERE.  For more questions regarding this camp, please reach out to Mrs. Amanda Vick, Reading Camp Director and Assistant Dean.

Reading Camp will take place this year (summer 2022) from June 13- July 12th, Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-12:00pm.
